Description
Jacket from World War I. Khaki canvas jacket, fitted at the waist. There is a U. S. Victory medal on the front of the jacket, a green and red braided cord around the left shoulder, 3 gold chevrons at the left wrist, and a home made badge on the left shoulder with a painted Indian. the buttons are black with the seal of the United States. There are breast pockets and pockets at the hips The collar is high with 2 hooks in the front. There is also a small pin with crossed cannons and the number 15 on the collar.
The uniform belonged to a member of the 15th Field Artillery Regiment - also known as the Indian Heads.

The U.S. Victory medal has a rainbow colored ribbon. There are 4 bars on the ribbon reading: "Aisne Marne, St. Mihiel, Meuse, Argonne, Defensive Sector" The medal is Bronze and 1 3/8 inches in diameter. On the obverse is a winged Victory, standing full length and full face. On the reverse is the inscription "THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILIZATION" and the United States shield with the letters "U.S." surmounted by a fasces, and on either side the names of the allied and associated nations. There is also a single bar with 4 stars, signifying 4 battles.
The medal was awarded to the 1st, 2nd 3rd, and 26th Divisions.
