"Boonie" Hat. It is one of 2 types of hat (in addition to the combat helmet) worn by American Soldiers in Afghanistan in 2007. This "boonie hat" was usually favored in the summer because it offered better protection from the sun and was cooler.

This hat is size 7.5. The label says; "Hats, Sun, Hot Weather, Type IV Universal Camo 50/50 Nylon Cotton. It is a floppy hat with a 2.25" brim all the way around. There are 2 round vents on each side to keep the wearer cool. The black embroidered patch on the front indicates that he was a member of the Airborne 7th special forces group.

It is part of the "Digital Camouflage" Uniform worn by Todd Guggisberg in Afghanistan.
