Description
Unit coin carried by Todd Guggisberg. According to Todd, "Unit coins are a popular tradition in the Army and almost all Battalion Commanders and above carry a few with them. They are used as a small reward for good performance and for trading. tradition has it that if you are in a bar and you pull out your coin, everyone who doesn't have theirs buys you a beer. This coin was my battalion's coin (Group Support Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group). It was modeled after the Harley Davidson #1 symbol because many of the battalion's soldiers rode Harleys. The Group's motto of "Anything, Anywhere, Anytime" is on the back."
It is shaped lithe the number 7 with white stars on a blue background on the top, and red and white stripes on the bottom. The 7 stands on a base that reads "Group Support Battalion 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne)." There is also a small logo that reads De Oppresso Libre (Freedom from Oppression) - the motto of the Special Forces Group. The back is white, with the Anything, Anywhere, Anytime motto written on a red ribbon with silver arrows. There is also a 7 sided leaf, and commanders stripes depicted on the back. It says "Commander's Coin for Commitment to Excellence."
