note with afghan: Hand-made afghan of 100% wool yarn
This was crotcheted in 1940 and 1941. The assembling of the many component parts, the pressing and final touches were completed November 11, 1941 -- the day of the memorable blizzard. I had driven from northern Minnesota, where I was employed by U.S. Dept. of Interior- Indian Service to spend the Armistice Day weekend with my parents, Albert and Esther Gaarder, in Morris. The snow came, the winds followed, all traffic was halted, and, for a few days, I was snowbound in Morris ! Agnes (Gaarder) Stieler
