Description
This quilt was made by Nettie and Engeborg Wollan and others. The pattern of the quilt is made by placing a quarter of an 11 inch circle of orange muslin in one corner of an 11 inch square of white muslin. The names of husband and wife are embroidered in black on the orange, while the names of the children are outline stitched in orange as sun rays on the white fabric. The patterned block is pieced together alternately with 11 inch squares of white muslin. The whole quilt is bound with a 2.25 inch border of orange muslin. The back is white muslin. The imprint from a Land O'Lakes bag remains on the back of the quilt. The quilt has 12 orange fans / quarter circles with names embroidered in black on them. The top center fan reads "Benjamin Wollan" and "Beret Stoen." The names of their 11 children are embroidered below in orange on a white background. Each of the 11 children have their own fan with the name of his or her spouse. Beneath each fan is the names of the couple's children. There are 11 blank fans along the bottom and sides of the quilt. It has some machine stitching, but is hand quilted.
