(Update 01/10/2025) An article in the August 31, 1935 Morris Tribune describes how the sword came to the collection of the Stevens County History Museum (picture of the story in Media). It was loaned O.F. Tewksbury, of Morris. The story says, "The sword was found by workmen who were excavating for the Bunker Hill monument, the corner stone of which was laid June 17, 1825 on the 50th Anniversary of the memorable battle." The original owner Dr. Carlos Tewksbury received it in payment for fixing a man's broken leg.
