Wood Trunk - Rosemaling
Made by Peder Jenssen from Solvaaren Norway in 1842.
The subject card had a handwritten note: "Dalmaaling (Swedish Folk Art) Originating in Dlarna, Sweden." The designs do apppear to resemble the Dlarna painting style and motifs.
But, Per / Peder / Peter Jenssen / Jensson / Barsness was the father of Christ Barsness and the grandfather of Selma Barsness. He was born in Norway in 1825 and died in 1911. It is likely his trunk that was used by Christ when he immigrated to America.
