Description
A photo of the McDonough Quarry located in the NW quarter of section 20, Mantorville twp. In the foreground are three men, a railroad car, and a wooden structure. In the background, we see a limestone working face with a wooden lader and four men standing on top. Two of the workers are identified; Manley Nelson and John Holtorf. The stone from this quarry was used to construct many buildings in Mantorville. The Chicago Great Western Railroad operated from 1896 to 1934.
