Description
This is the original Certificate of Passage for Herman Rebers. It is in German. On the back, there is a typewritten note which reads: "This is the Certificate of Passage for Herman Rebers when he left his home village of Uphausen in the Kingdom of Hanover, Germany in thew spring of 1860 when he was 16 years old. He landed in New York and resided with his sister. He marries Anna Margaretha Meyer on 11-11-1873. He worked for a grocer and later owned his own grocery and deli store. Herman and Anna purchased 160 acres of land and moved to Cottonwood, Lucas Township, Lyon County, Minnesota in 1886. They retired in Cottonwood."
