Description
Jacket: Burnt orange heavy ribbed cotton blend jacket. The jacket is about lower back length, above the waist. It has a round fold down collar. It has three-fourth length sleeves. The jacket opens down the front and closes at the bottom two snaps at the midrif and one snap at the bottom and three material covered buttons . At the midrif is a 1/2" wide pleat with a 5/8" wide large flat bow in the center. Above the pleat on each side are three vertical pleats extending to the bust area. There is a short vetical dart on each back shoulder. The inside bottom is lined with the same material as the dress. It is brown print nylon and polyester blend?. The background is off white but is mostly covered with brushed splotches of brown, dark orange, black, and and tan. Around the inside cuffs is brown seam tape. On the inside back neck is a cream label with a blue drawing of a face of a woman on the left and blue print on the right that says "A Pat Hartly/ORIGINAL/REG U.S. PAT. OFF.".

Dorothy Beattie bought the dress in 1956 when she was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in San Francisco CA.
