Banner: Red Wing Christian Academy banner. The banner is made of heavy blended? material, woven type material, cotton?, and polyester? It is approximately 79 1/4" long (including the fringe) x approximately 46 1/4" wide. The top small section is woven type material that is made of three pieces of material. The top and bottom parts of this section have narrow green, pink, blue, orange, pinkish purple, and violet stripes with black and white stripes in between each color. The middle part of this section is yellow. In this entire yellow section in large dark green shiny polyester? letters is "Red Wing". The middle large section is heavy blended? material. The heavy blended? material has a pattern of solid horizontal stripes with lighter colored square boxes in the lines, and alternating mottled horizontal stripes. The top part is mottled purple, then mottled green, mottled teal, mottled purple, mottled mauve, mottled red, mottled blue, mottled beige green, mottled dark green, mottled brown green. At the top of the middle section in large yellow shiny polyester? letters is "Christian". There are four large silhouettes of children in cotton? material outlined in yellow shiny polyester? In the upper left is a red girl holding a magnifying glass with a beetle and butterfly. In the upper right is a blue boy holding a tambourine. To the left of him is a dark blue heart outlined in red. In the hear in shiny gold metallic letters is "JESUS" with a dark blue heart outlined in red in the "U" and "loves me" in red below "JESUS". In the lower left is a green boy doing a handstand with a lizard to the left of him. In the lower right is a purple girl holding a Bible and kicking a soccer ball. The bottom small section is the same woven type material as the top. In the entire yellow section in large dark green shiny polyester? letters is "Academy". There is a 1/2" wide border around the entire banner. The border is satin like material. It is yellow with a pattern of different colored crayons. There is a 2" yellow fringe at the bottom. The top of the banner has 5 loops that are 4 1/4" long x 1" wide. The loops are satin like ribbon of the same color and crayon pattern as the edging. On the back of the banner in the middle written sideways in yellow paint is "K35867R1". On the back right side at the top of the middle section written in yellow paint is "EXTRA". Condition - A burr was removed from the bottom fringe. There is a small black mark on the green boy.
The Red Wing Christian Academy banner was displayed in the school and used in parades. The banner was made by the donor, Merry-Joy Angel Fleming. The school was located at Cornerstone Community Church at 420 West Third Street. The academy was in operation from fall 1999 to spring 2010. It was an inter-denominational Christian school. It opened with five kindergarten students. Jo Marie Schendel was the initial principal followed by Cindy Anderson. The focus of Jesus Christ was incorporated into every class curriculum. Spanish was always offered to all students of all ages.
