Description
Purse: Beaded purse given by the Prairie Island Indians to Elizabeth Johnson (Mrs. Percy) Claydon who taught Sunday School at the Church of the Messiah. Mrs. Claydon often baked coffee cakes for them. Her family ran the Poor Farm. The purse has some loose beads. It has a chain handle and a silk lining that is beginning to come apart. The beading is the same on both sides and shows a farm--house, barn, and silo, with trees, a field, and a tractor. The colors of the beads are black, white, red, pink, gray, pale green, clear, and light blue. There is a 2" white beaded looped fringe at the bottom of the purse.Geographic Notes
