Yoke: Brown ribbed cotton yoke with yellow and cream stripes for the boy's dress 2003.26.4a. The yoke has very thin horizontal yellow lines. There are wide horizontal yellow lines and wide vertical cream lines. It is a triangular wedge that is 14 1/2" long x 6" wide at the top. It is lined with brown cotton. There is a brown spot in the center 2 1/2" from neck edge. There are a few small pin sized holes. Goes with dress 2003.26.4a, belt 2003.26.4c, and collar 2003.26.4d. Worn by Clarence Maetzold. See photograph 2024.002.11924 where Clarence is in this boy's victorian dress. Clarence Maetzold was born in 1893. Donor writes about Clarence; "Clarence "C.J." attended Red Wing schools, playing in most school sports of the time, notably football, baseball, basketball. He served in the Army Medical Corps in World War I. He married Ruth Hanson of Red Wing in February, 1917, and after graduating from dental college, practiced dentistry in Lester Prairie, MN, and in Red Wing during the 1930's and 40's. Following his interest in bikes, as in the photograph (2003.26.1), he earned college expenses demonstrating and selling Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, later pursuing this interest and photography as serious hobbies. Clarence and Ruth had three children, Betty Jane (Mrs. Seth Withers), James, and Thomas."
