Description
Stone mortar (bowl made of unpolished porcelain) and pestle (unpolished porcelain with wood handle).  Mortar and pestle set used by Charles A. Pooler to start his drug business in Austin with J. J. Clemmer in 1874. He later purchased Clemmer's interest in the business and, in 1896, built the building on the corner of Main and Mill St. (329 N. Main). The building was later occupied by the Ford-Hopkins Co. and Woolworth.
