Description
This 26 inch mush paddle is carved from light local wood with a knob at the top of the hand and a geometric triangle standing out in relief at the middle of the handle. It was made by Mr. John Campbell, a full-blood Hoopa Indian. In the early days, the Indians of Hoopa lived almost entirely on acorns, and these paddles were used to stir the acorn mush. This was given to me in 1934.
