Quilt top only; probably made by a member of the Thomasson family (probably Jorgine or Jorgina); Roman stripe pattern, unusually bright colors; needs research to date quilt. According to Shelly Madson of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the brighter colors probably date to the early 1870s when aniline dyes first came out.Geographic Notes
