Description

"Quilters were encouraged to make the quilt their own, so I went my own way with the pattern. I made my quilt smaller than most people as the pattern was designed to be made with more rows and columns until it was as big as you wanted, up to a king sized bed covering. I chose the most 'virus' looking fabrics I had in my stash and appliqued the silhouette of the medieval plague doctor. It is quilted in large circles to represent the round COVID-19 virus. The red ties represent the red spikes every media outlet used to graphically show the virus. The red is the dye used in microscopic examination to help see the virus. The label points to the immediate shortage of toilet paper that happened almost as soon as the lockdowns began. People made huge rushes on stores to stock up on food and necessities. Manufacturers could not keep up with the demand and the 'great toilet paper shortage of 2020' was very real, but also fodder for many jokes and late night talk TV monologues."
