Description

A Rochester police officers badge. The badge is gold, silver and blue with the MN state seal and "POLICE OFFICER ROCHESTER POLICE 490". This badge design was used by the Rochester Police Department since the mid to late 1970s. The last day this design was authorized to be worn was October 1, 2021.
This badge was purchased in advance of future officers being hired; as of late August 2021 RPD only has up to badge number 481/2481 in service. Due to the October 2021 switch over deadline for the new badges, #490 in this gold badge will never be used as the badge style will be outdated when #490 is actually hired.
