The St. Paul Plow Works were built on the northeast corner of the intersection of the St. Paul and Duluth Railroad and the Wisconsin Central Railroad in 1887 by the President, William Dawson. The plant manufactured farm implements that included the Buckeye Shoe Drills, Buckeye Seeders, Bain Wagons, Whitman Hay Presses, Buckeye Pumps, lawn mowers and wind engines. The most successful were the Pirate Gang Plow and the St Paul Sulky Plow. According to Farm Implements magazine, they made the original Pirate Gang Plow that was copied by many other manufacturers. The Plow Works did not sell directly to the public - it was done through an agent and the first was the Mast, Buford and Burwell Company of St Paul. The Plow Works declared bankruptcy in 1903.
