Description
Gladstone was platted by William Dawson in August, 1886. In 1887, he was instrumental in relocating the St. Paul Plow Works and the St. Paul & Duluth Railroad Shops to Gladstone. In 1900, the New Canada town hall was relocated here. Although it was never incorporated as a city, it became a commercial and government center for New Canada township and for later Maplewood.
