This early Gladstone School was located where the west parking lot is for today's Gladstone School. Although it had four rooms, the community could only afford two teachers, so two rooms went unused. The Gladstone school was at the center of the community for the next 60 years. Many a dance and meeting were held inside its walls. In its early days a non-denomination mass was held in the basement. Most of the churches in Gladstone had their beginnings there. Cross Lutheran and Presentation Churches both held early masses in the basementGeographic Names
