Letter Transcription:
Dear Kathy,
Called home Monday night right after you called, so know you got to N.Y. alright. I tried calling Sunday nite but Liz said you had double dates!
We had a nice trip Saturday and got as far as Huron S. Dakota. Had supper and turned in early. Got as far as Rapid City, S. Dak. Sunday by 12 noon and it got unbearably hot. We rested a while, had a real swank motel, swimming pool, etc. We drove to Mt. Rushmore 25 miles and had a lovely Sunday dinner in the new dining hall. The walls were arranged so that you could see the stone faces as you ate.
The next day (Monday) we drove as far as Cody, Wyoming where we discovered a V.F.W. club and bar named the Wonder Bar!
Today we are in Yellowstone and have a cottage for the nite. Wednesday we will be in Jackson Hole Country. We are not going to Grover, but would rather spend more time in the Tetons. We saw flocks of pheasants in So. Dak.---deer in Wyoming and more bear along the roads in the Yellowstone.
We stopped at Wall's Drug Store. The one that's advertised so much! We got a beautiful ring made of Black Hills Gold for Liz's birthday. It's very good looking and I hope she likes it.
I suppose by this time you are re-acquainted with the children. Hope you have a good time and don't expect more letters till I get home---only post cards.
Love,
Chief Sitting Bull
