Dear Kathy,
Well nearly one full day---had an exceptional trip. Left about 5:30 P.M.---plane was filled and its the first time I ever heard cheering & applause when the plane took off, also when we landed! We had seats in a row---Donna by the window---she was so excited. Didn't get to have dinner until 9:00P.M. Cocktails before and doubles at that. I slept thru the movie--- it was "Heartbreak Kid." The plane quieted down for about 1 1/2 hours---Then everyone was served breakfast. Landed on time 6:45 A.M. The weather was beautiful--- Going thru customs was something else. We had to have an importation slip---had to claim our own baggage---can't you see me staggering with all my luggage. Everyone has to carry his own---fortunately no one had to open their bags. The travel agent was right at door and took mine so it was only a few feet. Then I missed my carryon---with all my money---I really panicked--- and there it was all by its lonesome untouched---talk about luck.
Then coffee party after the bus ride here. We had to wait  until 11:30 for our rooms---our bags not here until about 3:00---I was disappointed I didn't have a room overlooking the ocean. Everything is so new. I took a nap and thought I had been hallucinating when I heard a rooster crow---I went out on the balcony and my room overlooks homes that have chickens in the the back yards, really different.
The mountains and sea are terrific. On the way here saw donkeys pulling carts & oxen plowing fields---Great shops in the hotel but expensive. Haven't planned our trips yet. My eye is clearing nicely. Had a Langna party before dinner. I wore my new beige dress. I didn't wear my orchid over but wore it tonight. Beautiful with my dress. Took pictures also.
So much to see and do---all the people are great. Multitudes of very young men & women working here. So many new hotels going up---cranes & buildings everywhere. I forgot to mention, the guards  at customs carried big revolvers---seemed very stern. No unions here you know----
Love to all, will try to get post cards of tomorrow.
Love, Mother.
