Title

Pencil Holder

Maker's Mark

G. Felsenthal & Sons

Description

A brass bullet pencil holder with a plastic cover produced by G. Felsenthal & Sons. The plastic cover has a bible quote from the Old Testament, Psalms 19: 7, 8. The cover is black with silver lettering but there is a clear window that reveals the Ten Commandments which are printed directly on the brass holder. The insert which holds the pencil has been lost.

A bullet pencil holder, as the name suggests, is a pencil holder in the shape of a rifle bullet cartridge. In fact, the first renditions of these pencil holders were made of spent cartridges. A removable insert holds the pencil, with the pencil having the ability to be inserted into the casing in order to protect the tip from breaking.
