Description

(update 10/31/2025) I spoke with Carol Day about this accession. The tusk came from Alaska when Agnes Stieler's uncle went exploring in 1900. Agnes is a 1922 graduate of Morris High School. Agnes lived in Pennsylvania but moved to Arizona in her later years to care for her parents. She had moved without her husband, who after three years, divorced Agnes. After her parents passed, she moved back to the county, Pepperton Township, to be near her friends, many of whom went to Reque Church, south of Alberta. Carol's husband drove to Arizona to pick up a load of donations from Agnes which included the tusks.

If you are wondering, tusks are illegal to sell or trade as of Jan. 1, 2020 according to Minnesota Statue. There are exemptions for possession prior to 2020 and for donated items.
