Description
Artifacts found during the 2017-2018 Pope County Archaeological Survey.

Recovered artifacts included a grit-tempered ceramic sherd with rolled-cord surface texture. Based on the surface texture, this is most likely LaSalle Creek (Brainerd) Horizontally Corded, dating to the Early Woodland at about 750 BC to AD 250. Alternatively, it could be Fox Lake, estimated to date to about 200 BC to AD 700. Also recovered were a bipolar core of polycrystalline quartz, and a piece of chert shatter.
