Mower County Flag
Title
Mower County Flag
Creation Date
1946 – 1949
Description
The flag of Mower County from the old court house. Jay Hormel had the flag created for SPAM Post 570 to carry in American Legion Drum & Bugle Corp Competitions.  The flag is made from "Dairy Brand green" linen with a hand painted portrait of the courthouse painted on a circle in the center of the flag.  The words "County of Mower" are made out of white linen and appliqued above and below the picture.  It has gold fringe on three sides and is currently glued to a piece of thin cardboard along the top edge.

The post was created in 1946 and carried the flag at the National American Legion Drug and Bugle Corps competition in 1949 so we know the flag was created sometime in that time period.  The flag was displayed in the Courthouse for many years until the county commissioners transferred it to the historical society in 1961.
