Description

"Dark golden grass supported at intervals with wooden bands forms this grass house which is 18 inches high and 13 inches in diameter. When I went to Oklahoma as an extension worker in 1928, the Wichita Indians were living in grass houses. The other tribes in Oklahoma were using tepees or regular houses. These grass houses fascinated me so much that an Indian friend had her Wichita friend make this miniature for me. "
