A poem written by Karl in the back of the book:
Spring is the best time of the year
When everyone is full of cheer,
The snow grows soft and starts to melt,
And snow balls flying round are felt.
The balls fly round as thick as rain
And give good many people a pain.
In school the pupils are restless and bold,
And many a rub is felt, I'm told,
But when at last the school let out,
The boys run round with many a shout,
They play their marbles on the ground
And large excited crowds stand round.
The snow turns into ponds so wet,
And boys run cross at great big fets,
And skiing made a path for his raft,
While the rest of us stood on shore and laughed.
