Dr. Robert [Bob] Hardy is a veterinarian who graduated from the University of California-Davis in 1969. He spent his entire career in veterinary medicine at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, before retiring in 2013. Dr. Hardy conducted research with a primary interest in the liver, diabetes insipidus, and pancreatic disease. One of his many accolades included the CVM Distinguished Teacher of the Year in 1972, 1980, 1989, and 1998. The UMN Graduate and Professional Award was established in 1999 to recognize contributions to graduate and professional education. Dr. Hardy received this award in its inaugural year.

In this interview, Dr. Hardy discusses meeting and being recruited by veterinarian Dr. Carl Osborne, to work as a faculty member at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. He reflects on changes to the veterinary profession and education, including new research, specializations, and veterinary technicians.
