Description
In 1884, the Grand Army of the Republic, Underwood Post No. 122, was created by a group of the Fillmore County Community fellow veterans of the Civil War. It was officially ratified on September 5, 1884, 108 years following the birth of the country. Those veterans consisting the nucleus of the post included E. A. Farrington, G. W. Hard, Charles Webb, L. H. Burrs, Edward Stevens, Henry Jones, W. K. Read, J. B. Janquish, S. S. McKenney, Joseph Gartner, James Kerwin, Allen Barnes, Jeremiah Shook, D. J. Brighthree, Andrew Levy, Jerome Utley, H. S. Basseth, Frank Eagle, Charles Shultz, Martin Reaves, Fred Young, Garrett Workueau, John Kerwin, George Ibach, W. W. Foot, Adam Frey, Calvin Barnes, J. H. Morgan, Thomas Ryan, G. A. Baker and C. M. Foote.
