One of the competitions people could enter in the Fillmore County Fair in its earlier years included a variety of themes, one even being whose baby was the prettiest. In this picture, Coquella Mae Manley stands in front of a chair, being two years of age. She was born on August 4, 1902, and a year later won the prestigious award of being the prettiest one-year-old in Fillmore County. This picture shows the young Coquella at two years of age, holding the blue ribbon award she won as a one-year old at the fair on her wrist. The photo was enlarged from the original in 1904 and was given to Coquella by her Aunt Madge Manley in January 1947. The photo is in an ornate frame with decorative pieces on the outer edge. The innermost edge is covered with a faded red fabric.
