Description
Seth Carson, the subject of this sketch, was one of the earliest settlers to arrive in Fillmore County in the 1850s. He was born at Avon, Maine in 1825. He journeyed Fillmore County in 1851, first settling in the Carimona area. Not long after he returned to Maine where he married Mary Ann Pratt, who was three years his senior, and returned to Fillmore County, settling in Jordan Township in 1852. He was the grandfather of Mrs. Alice Groen, who, together with her husband, left their distinguished mark on the Chatfield area.

The sketch is housed in a wooden frame, the outer edge in a light varnish with a simple design. The inner edge is more ornate with leafy designs and painted gold.
