Description
This is a photo of the family of Steen and Sarah (Siri) Sanderson, taken in 1880 at their farm home in Northern Winnesheik County, Iowa, nearly four miles from Canton, Minnesota. In the photo are Mr. and Mrs. Steen Sanderson, their two sons, Sander, the older son, with his wife, Mary, and Tollef with his wife, Anna Sophia, and their baby daughter, Anna. Steen and Sarah adopted two daughters, Martha Johnson and Julia Talethe who was about 5 years old. Two other men are shown in the picture who worked for the Sandersons around the farm. The photo was taken by Carl Engell of Spring Grove.The photo is in a wooden frame with a light varnish revealing tremendous grain, and a gold inner lining.
