Description
Edward J. Larson answered the call from the United States to serve in the military during World War I. Edward was born on March 22, 1890 in Volga, South Dakota and was the son of John J. Larson of Mabel. He enlisted with the Fourth Call of the Selective Draft on May 28, 1918 and was assigned to the 306th Infantry. Two months later he arrived in France, eventually stationed at Flanders Field. During his duty, he spent two months in active service, eventually participating in the Battle of the Marne. It was in this battle on October 3 when he was seriously wounded, eventually dying seven days later on October 10, 1918 due to his wounds.
This is the military photo of Edward standing in front of a building and tents at a military camp, holding a rifle. There is a little tint of color in the photo. Both the photo and the glass are convex and, together with the frame, are oval shaped. The frame is made of wood with plaster of paris painted gold and sporting the American eagle and shield at the top with the flag on each side and a wreath at the bottom.
