Description
M. T. Gratten, who lived near Preston during the 1870s, produced an advertisement poster to breed the best Black Hawk horse in the state named Black Tiger. He stated Black Tiger would remain at his stable about a half mile north of Preston during the season in 1873. Gratten lists the genealogy of Black Tiger and placed "his services within the reach of all." Of those who would take up the offer of breeding their mares to Black Tiger, he would offer a premium of $15 to the best of the colts which would be show at the county fair from year to year.

This poster has been mounted with a dark mat inside a simple, grainy and brown wooden frame.
