Description
Those who served in World War I had many horrific and nightmarish experiences. But even within that nightmare, men did serve with honor in the front lines. Floyd L. Kidd from Fillmore County was one such man, and he was wounded in action. In recognition of his serving with honor and being wounded in action, he was given this certificate, printed in 191 with President Woodrow Wilson's signature on it. The drawing depicts the lady Columbia standing in front of a large, flowing American flag, a shield and a group of soldiers while holding a certificate aloft in her left hand and a sword in her right hand. The sword is resting on the right shoulder of an American doughboy who is kneeling in full gear and holding a rifle with a bayonet. Columbia is knighting the American soldier.

This certificate is held in a simple wooden frame of dark brown with a few lines to add a little decoration to the frame.
