Description
Upon the entry of the United States to World War I, which officially took place on April 4, 1917, drafts were performed to help bolster up the military all over the country. In Fillmore County, the first call for the draft came on September 22, 1917. Local photographer Moen & Palen photographed the group enlisting that day with a couple members of the Fillmore County Draft Board, Sheriff E. K. Blexrud and Dr. George A. Love. This is the photo of the First Call of Fillmore County Selective Draft for World War I. In the back row from left to right are Helmer O. Skaar, Oscar Gillund, W. L.
