Description
This framed original World War I photo was taken by Moen and Palen, photographers from Preston, Minn. The men in the photo were the Second call from Fillmore County to head off to war. The Selective Draft photo was taken on February 25, 1918. Among the men pictured is the donor's grandfather, Earl L. Kidd, who was born in the Wykoff area. Earl eventually went on to run the Green Gables gas station, a restaurant and tourist cabins in Fountain. He also ran unsuccessfully for Fillmore County Treasurer. He kept this photo in his home until he held an auction.
It is held in a simple, angular, wooden frame varnished a dark brown, but the grain of the wood can clearly be seen.Geographic Names
