Description
Upon the entry of the United States to World War I, which officially took place on April 4, 1917, drafts were performed to help bolster up the military all over the country. In Fillmore County, the ninth call for the draft came on October 24, 1918. Local photographer from Preston, Moen & Palen, photographed the group enlisting that day with a couple members of the Fillmore County Draft Board, Sheriff E. K. Blexrud and Dr. George A. Love.

Among the men pictured is the donor's grandfather, Otto Rassmussen. He is the fifth man standing in the back row left of the flag and Sheriff Blexrud.

The frame itself is not original to the photo made of dark faux wood.
