Brass dip compass owned and used By W.W. Childs, a long time land surveyor in Lakefield. Alvin Comstock remembers seeing Mr. Childs use this compass many time once when he and Mr. Childs were running out the lines for Kilen Woods and locating the iron stake at the section line south of the kilens woods bridge over the Des Moines River
