Description

1. White silk ribbon with black lettering and decorations. On the center of the ribbon is a young girl/woman wearing a dress with her hair down. She appears to be holding a ball in her left hand and has holding her raised right leg with her right hand. There is no fringe on top and slight straight fringe/fraying on the bottom. Ribbon reads: "COMPLIMENTS OF West Side Hose Co., NORFOLK FIRE DEPT. TO THE 24th Annual Convention OF THE N.S.V.F.A. [Image of girl] Where is the Center of Attraction? AT BEATRICE, NEB., Jan. 16-17-18, 1906". Width: 2.125 inches   Length: 8.5 inches
2. Red silk ribbon with black lettering and decorations. On the center of the ribbon is an image of a winged dragon with a pointed tail. Ribbon has slight fringe/fraying on top and bottom. Ribbon reads: "COMPLIMENTS OF Hose No. 6 BEATRICE, NEB. I AM The New Delegate WHO THE ARE YOU? 24th Annual Convention OF N.S.V.F.A. BEATRICE, NEB., Jan. 16-18, 1906". 3. White silk ribbon with black lettering and decorations. On the center of the ribbon is a cartoon image of a heavy-set man in a suit shaking the hand of a heavy-set woman in a casual working class dress. There is no fringe/fraying on top. The ribbon is cut diagonally from left to right on the bottom. Ribbon reads: "COMPLIMENTS OF Kilpatrick Hose Co. OF BEATRICE, NEB. [cartoon image] HELLO GIRLS; GLAD TO SEE YOU 24th Annual Convention OF N.S.V.F.A. BEATRICE, NEB., Jan. 16-18, 1906". Width: 2.125 inches Length: 8.75 inches
4. Red silk ribbon with black lettering and decorations. On top of the ribbon is an image of an owl perched on a tree branch. On the bottom of the ribbon is a heraldic image of a lion. There is straight fringe/fraying on top of the ribbon and no fringe/fraying on the bottom. Ribbon reads: "N.S.U.F.A. Beatrice January 16-18, 1906 Compliments of Cedar Rapids Hose Co. No. 1 J.M. Good, Chief F.C. Compton, Delegate". Width:  Length: 2.125 inches Length: 7.0 inches
5. Yellow silk ribbon with black lettering and decorations. Slight straight fringe/fraying on top and bottom of ribbon. Ribbon appears to have been cut unevenly at the bottom. Ribbon reads: "COMPLIMENTS OF SIDNEY FIRE DEPARTMENT Sidney, Nebr. To The FORTY-SECOND ANNUAL CONVENTION OF THE N.S.V.F.A. AT BEATRICE JAN. 15, 16, 17 1924 Delegate: GUS WELLNER". 6. White silk ribbon with black lettering and decorations. On the center of the ribbon are a pair of women's legs dressed in hose wearing high-heeled shoes and topped with the trim of a black skirt. There is a slight straight fringe/fraying on top and bottom of the ribbon. Ribbon reads: "WE ARE STRANGERS FROM AURORA FIRE DEPT. [image of woman's legs] We Can Go Through Hell With the Right Hose 42D ANNUAL CONVENTION N.S.V.F.A. BEATRICE JAN. 15, 16, 17, 1924". Width: 1.875 inches Length: 8.75 inches
7. White silk ribbon with black lettering and decorations. Ribbon features a large cartoon image of a young boy wearing winter clothes peeing in the snow. Ribbon has slight straight fringe/fraying on top and bottom. Ribbon reads: "BVFD [in boy's pee] Johnson [cartoon artist's signature] On the Job for Bayard Nebraska 42nd Annual Convention N.S.V.F.A. January 15-16-17 1924 Beatrice, Nebr." Width: 2.25 inches Length: 7.25 inches
8. Red silk ribbon with black lettering. Ribbon has very slight straight fringe/fraying on top and slightly longer straight fringe/fraying on the bottom. Ribbon reads: "GRANT Volunteer Fire Department 42d Annual Convention BEATRICE Jan. 15, 16, 17 1924". Width: 1.5 inches Length: 7.0 inches
9. White silk ribbon with black lettering and decorations. Center of the ribbon features an image of a woman in a one-piece bathing suit wearing a swimming cap over her hair. She appears to be about to take a dive off of a diving board. There is no fringe/fraying on top of the ribbon and a slight straight fringe/fraying on the bottom of the ribbon. Ribbon reads: "SCOTTSBLUFF VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPT. It's not the wrapper that we like, but what's on the inside [image caption] BEATRICE NEBR. January 15-16-17 1924". 10. White silk ribbon with black lettering and decorations. Ribbon has no fringe/fraying on top and bottom. Ribbon reads: "Compliments Of FRIEND V.F.D Acme Mills & Elevator Friend, Nebr. HOME OF THAT GOOD ROYAL PANCAKE FLOUR AND FRIEND ROYAL FLOUR You ought to see the women in our town blush and col-or up, when the fire-men get to handling the hose. 15. White silk ribbon with brown lettering and decorations. Ribbon has no fringe/fraying on top and bottom. Ribbon features an image of a potato. Ribbon reads: "Hay Springs VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT at the CONVENTION ALLIANCE, NEBR. JANUARY 19, 20 and 21, 1926 LOOK AT OUR POTATO Certified seed potatoes net our growers $225.00 per acre; the quality is second to none. Some of our wheat fields aver-aged 50 bu. per acre, and we ship-ped 175,000 bushels from Hay Springs in 1925. We raise and ship more hogs from Hay Springs dis-trict than any town in the state except Omaha. We have a new $75,000.00 school building, and our wat-er system has been extended at a cost of $20,000.00. We have not had a destructive fire in two years. Our fire boys are Johnny on the Spot.
