A wooden and bronze metal award or souvenir from the International Association of Fire Chiefs Metro Chiefs Conference on April 5-7, 1982 hosted by the San Diego (California) Fire Department.
The wood is stained a medium-dark color. The top of the award is flat and trapezoid shaped with a small bronze metal relief sculpture. The sculpture features two firefighters operating a hose pointing to the right. Lettering on the left side of the sculpture above the firefighters in a decorative script reads: "San Diego". Below the sculpture is a small shiny gold metal plaque with black lettering that reads: "Presented during the I.A.F.C. Metropolitan Conference [logo image with a globe] ASSOCIATION OF INTERNATIONAL FIRE CHIEFS April 5,6, & 7, 1982 San Diego, California". On the base of the award is a black metal plaque with gold lettering that reads: "Created Exclusively For INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE CHIEFS METRO CHIEFS CONFERENCE April 5-7, 1982 SAN DIEGO FIRE DEPARTMENT". On the back of the award is a small rectangular and horizontal black metal plaque with golden cursive lettering that reads: "Bryson Kottle" and "049" in plain lettering. On the bottom of the award are four small circular green felt fabric pads.
