Randolph Extinguisher Systems Brand Pressurized Water Extinguisher Stainless Steel Tank Model Number 1778S.
Round cylindrical silver stainless steel tank. The tank has a hollow bottom with a round bottom. On the top of the tank is a hand lever with a colored gauge with a round plastic glaze. Attached to the right side of the lever is a short and thin black rubber hose with a transparent yellow nozzle. The safety pin is in place in the lever and is secured. On the front of the tank near the top is a circular green and silver manufacturer label with a logo image of a fire extinguisher that reads: "RANDOLPH / EXTINGUISHERS / SYSTEMS". Around the center of the tank is a silver metal and green manufacturer and instructional label. The front side of the label reads: "[left] MODEL NO. 1778S / 1960 / [center] RANDOLPH PRESSURIZED WATER / FOR FIRE - HOLD UPRIGHT - TWIST OUT / SAFETY PIN - PRESS VALVE LEVER / HOLD IN UPRIGHT POSITION WHILE DISCHARGING / [right] MADE IN U.S.A. / TO BE USED / WITH WATER / OR / ANTIFREEZE". Below the metal label on the front of the tank are two inspection stickers that indicate that the tank was inspected in May 1978 and May 1983. On the right side of the tank and printed on the central metal label are recharging and maintenance instructions that read: "RECHARGE INSTRUCTIONS: PRESS VALVE LEVER TO RELEASE PRESSURE. On the right side of the tank, the black rubber hose rests in a hook attached to the central metal label. The right side of the central middle label has manufacturer and classification information that reads: "RANDOLPH LABORATORIES, INC. / 1450 FRONTAGE RD., NORTHBROOK, ILLINOIS, U.S.A. / Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc. [logo] / R [in a circle] / INSPECTED / HAND FIRE EXTINGUISHER / EX.-1984 CLASSIFICATION 2-A NO. G-384826 [stamped]". Under the central metal label on the right side of the tank is another inspection sticker that indicates that the extinguisher was inspected in June 1983. NOTE: The tank sounds empty and the gauge indicates that the tank needs a refill, but confirmation is needed. It sounds like the cartridge/vial is still inside the tank, but the tank was not opened during 2023, so again confirmation is needed.
