An aluminum fire chief's helmet that is located on the passenger's seat of the M.F.D. Pumper Truck (2001.02.001). The helmet is painted red and a white metal shield is adhered to the front by three (3) metal screws. The black text "CAPTAIN 6" is featured on the shield. There are four (4) raised combs on the outer surface of the crown, with a bronze crown cap at the top where the combs meet. The name "MATTISON" is written on the outer surface of the rear brim. The inner crown system consists of a brown leather cushion liner and ear flaps, with a black leather brow pad at the front. A metal circle is adhered to the top of the inner crown and features the manufacturer's name, "Cairns & Brothers." Next to the metal circle is a paper label showing the same manufacturer's name.
