M.F.D. Rescue Squad Coston Line-Throwing Gun Kit.
The line-throwing gun kit consists of a leather gun case (a), a single-shot shoulder gun (b), a weighted rope (c), four (4) steel projectiles (d-g), a silver metal cleaning rod (h), and two (2) paper board cartridge boxes (i-j).

a) The elongated, rectangular gun case is covered in dark brown leather and has a hinged lid as well as a handle on the front facing side. The corners of the case are covered in bronze-colored metal, while two (2) metal clasps and a metal locking device are on the front facing side of the case, directly below the lid. The white text "M.F.D./RESCUE SQUAD" is printed on the top facing side of the lid. Inside the case, twenty-two (22) textile cartridge holders are on the underside of the lid and are holding twenty (20) blank cartridges. Also, two (2) compartments make up the base of the case.

b) The shoulder gun has a wooden stock and forearm as well as a short, single metal barrel. Remnants of brown leather padding cover the butt of the stock. The section of the forearm between the trigger and opening lever is a silver-metal and features the stamped text "Coston Line Throwing Gun/Coston Supply Co./New York, U.S.A."

i-j) The two (2) yellow, rectangular paper board cartridge boxes come with a smaller, lidless interior brown box that can fit two (2) rows of ten (2) gun cartridges. The first box (i) is filled with nineteen (19) blank cartridges, while the second box is empty (j). The front facing side of the boxes have a blue strip overlapping a large orange "W." The white text "Cartridge Case" is printed across the blue strip. Additionally, the red lettering "WINCHESTER Western" is printed across a white strip that is set above the "W." On the back facing side of the boxes is a white text box featuring two (2) paragraphs of red and blue lettering. The manufacturer's name "WINCHESTER-WESTERN DIVISION" is printed in red at the bottom of the text box.
