Purse: Brown soft cotton purse, 6 1/2" tall, 7" wide. The purse is in the shape of a pouch bag with a stiff oval bottom that is 2" high and 4 7/8" wide. Half way down the bag is a horizontal piping made of the same material. The lower half of the bag has brown braided thick yarn forming swirling lines. The purse is gathered at the top. The frame is oval and is tortoise shell celluloid. The frame is 3 5/8" long, 3" wide, and 5/8" tall. The lid opens by pressing forward a light brown celluloid ball in the front. Below the ball on the side of the frame is a dark brown ball. The back of the lid has a hinge. The handle is tortoise shell cellouloid link chain 7" long. The handle is attached to the top center of the lid. The bag is sewn to the frame with black thread. The interior is lined with brown polished cotton. There is a pocket on one side. The thread attaching the bag to the frame is coming loose. There is a white spot at the bottom of the bag.
Inside the bag were two pieces of paper used as play money. One piece had "$ one $" written on it and the other piece had "$ 5 $" written on it. On the other side of the five paper was a check enclosed payment slip from the Leader Company of Red Wing. The papers were ripped. They were tossed on 9/16/2005 by JG.Geographic Notes
