Shawl: One of two pieces of man's brown plaid woven shawl worn. It is 70" wide x 61 1/4" long. There are 4" long tassels/frays on one side. The shawl is brown and white speck, with darker brown with thin black outline stripes (thin 1/4"-3/8", wide 5/8"-3/4", wide5/8", thin 1/4") on 3 sides. The lines criss-cross at the ends. Condition - There are numerous holes, faded spots and lines, and brown stains. It was stored in an immigration trunk at the museum for awhile.
Goes with 1.1.3168.
Worn by Benjamin Densmore of Red Wing, circa 1860. He wore this instead of an overcoat.
