Description
Cap, Garrison: World War I overseas (garrison) cap. The cap is olive drab green wool felt with a dark blue brim. It is 11 3/4" long. The brim folds up 1 1/4" in the front and 3" in the back. The front of the brim crosses over from the left to the right. Around the top fo the brim is a 3/8" wide olive felt band. At the top of the brim in the center front is a bronze pin of a caduceus (winged staff with two snakes wrapped around it) (signifying medical department). The cap is lined with purple cotton. There is a white paper size label with a black outline and a blac "7 3/8/Price. . .". There is awhite stiff label with black print. In black corners in white is "CLOTH/HATS/AND/CAPS". In the center is a white circle with black "UNITED CLOTH HAT AND CAP MAKERS/OF NORTH AMERICA". In the center is a globe and two hands shaking. Above is "UNION MADE" and below is "REGISTERED". Printed in red over the label is "K/9159595". Condition - The lining is worn in the front.

Worn by Dr. Myron W. Smith of Red Wing. He was a Captain in the Medical Corps at Camp Custer, Michigan. Joined the service August 23, 1918.
