Description
Purse: Brown satin evening purse with gold sequins, 5 3/8" long, 5" wide at the top and widens to 8". The bottom half of the purse is brown satin. There is brown stitching in the center of the satin and it is pleated. The top half of the purse is gold sequins sewn on top of yellow thick thread with the same type of thread. The handle is brown satin and is 1 1/2" wide and 6" long. The handle goes from front to back. The frame is gold metal with engraved geometric lines on the inside. The purse closes with a gold oval double clasp. Engraved in the inside of the frame is the manufacturer's mark, which is difficult to read, and "USA". The interior is lined with black cotton. Inside the purse is a detached price tag with writing in pencil "4 50" with "90" written underneath, a line, and then "5 40".

Creola T. Marquette Pirius Tupa (Mrs. William G. Pirius) is the donor. Creola Marquette Pirius (2/18/1911-2/17/1991) was born in Wilmot, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Edward and Clara Marquette. She married William Pirius. They lived in Red Wing. In 1960, she bought Fitzsimmon's Hat Shop and named it Creola's.
